our country than the full recognition of the place of the artist".

About MeI started sketching as a hobby during my student days in Polytechnic. Later, finding good development, finally decided to start my career as a full-time artist. In 1964 I joined in a local ART SCHOOL to learn the preliminary lessons in oil painting. Finding good maturity in drawing and painting, leaving the school after three months, I started painting portraits and decided to make it my profession as I could manage to bring good likeness in each portrait I did, and they all received high praises.
In 1975, I moved to Madras (Chennai) to start my career as a professional portrait artist. Soon, I enrolled as a member in all the leading libraries like Adyar Library, British Council Library, American Library and Mueller Muller Bhavan Library. These libraries had a vital role in making me a full-fledged artist with more knowledge. Also, I got the good opportunity of meeting people like Major Srikanth ( A.D.C. to Governor), R. Ramakrishnan ( Sheriff of Madras), John B.S. Coats, President, Theosophical Society, Justice. P.R. Gokulakrishnan Chief Justice, Gujarat High Court (Rtd), M.G. Balasubramanian ( I.A.S. Rtd ), M. Gopalakrishnan ( Ex. Chairman, Indian Bank), Justice. K Venkataswami ( Supreme Court Judge) and friends like A. Ramachandran I.O.B). They all have been highly helpful in shaping my career. I am grateful to all of them for their valued contribution to the growth and development of my career. During the long span of my career, I had been fortunate to draw the attention of many distinguished people to my work as a portrait artist.
In 2006, I got the wonderful opportunity to meet the Governor H.E. Shri. Surjit Singh Barnala at Raj Bhavan and paint a beautiful portrait of His Excellency. H.E. was so kind to respond to my request to visit my studio to see the completed portrait. I consider this a moment in life-time. Also, I take it as a rare honour and recognition to my services in the field of portrait painting.

Again, in 2007, I received a personal letter from the Governor asking to do a portrait of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for Raj Bhavan. " You have done a wonderful job" was the comment from H.E. when the completed portrait was shown to him..
I take this opportunity to express my profound sense of gratitude to His Excellency for the concern for me in person and my art.
